Sheriff Ryan Needham talks to Kiwanis

On June 29, 2023 Crawfordsville Kiwanians were pleased to hear a report from Sheriff Ryan Needham, Montgomery County Sheriff. Sheriff Needham reported that from Jan 1, 2023 through June 28, 2023 the department had 11,341 calls that they had to deal with. They had given out 3,141 traffic warnings and 262 tickets during that time.

Staff included 26 Deputies and officers along with approximately 42 jail guards and employees. Also during that time the jail had 158 inmates.

One of the laws coming into effect in July is the 25 foot rule. Under the new law, which goes into effect July 1, Indiana police and firefighters can order onlookers to stay a minimum of 25 feet away to clear an emergency scene or stop approaching bystanders. Needham said this will help with crowds around an incident scene.

Thanks Sheriff Needham for all that you and your deputies do.
